I discovered the book Game of Thrones quite by accident. I was strolling through the aisles of Barnes and Nobel or Borders, as I often do, and happened to spot a copy of it on one of those end cap displays. Since there was no new Wheel of Time book to be had, I picked it up and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Like many fans of the books, I was super excited to learn about the HBO series and so far, it hasn’t disappointed. Sure, there’s the sexposition and that one director who doesn’t seem to understand what the word “consent” means, but overall I’ve been pretty happy with the series. The cast is mostly excellent and so far they have done a pretty good job of keeping the good parts and condensing some of the more tedious bits.
There have been some changes I didn’t like much….taking away Cat and Cersei’s agency in season 1. The whole Talisa thing, etc., but there has been more to like than not.
Like the book marathon, this item will have to wait until the series is actually complete. Unlike the books, when that happens isn’t based solely on the whims and lifespan of George R.R. Martin, but also on the ratings. Hopefully people will stay interested long enough for the entire series to air.
I will update the blog when I am ready to begin the marathon.
