Final Fantasy Marathon

The Final Fantasy series of RPGs is my favorite video game franchise of all time.  My primary reason for hanging on to my PS2 was to be able to undertake this epic Final Fantasy marathon.

For this marathon, I plan to play all of the Final Fantasy games in the main series (i.e. no Final Fantasy Legends, Crystal Chronicles, Online games etc) back to back.

The games I will include in this marathon are:

  1. Final Fantasy (NES)
  2. Final Fantasy II (Famicom)
  3. Final Fantasy III (Famicom)
  4. Final Fantasy IV (SNES)
  5. Final Fantasy V (Super Famicom)
  6. Final Fantasy VI (SNES)
  7. Final Fantasy VII (PSOne)
  8. Final Fantasy VIII (PSOne)
  9. Final Fantasy IX (PSOne)
  10. Final Fantasy X (PS2)
  11. Final Fantasy X-2 (PS2)
  12. Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
  13. Final Fantasy XIII (PS3/360)
  14. Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3/360)
  15. Final Fantasy Lightning Returns (PS3/360)
  16. Final Fantasy XV – (PS4/XBONE) – Scheduled to release in 2016

I currently own some version of all of these games, except for Final Fantasy Lightning Returns and the not yet released Final Fantasy XV.

The versions I currently have are:

  1. Final Fantasy I & II – Final Fantasy Origins (PSOne) & iPad versions
  2. Final Fantasy III – iPad/Steam
  3. Final Fantasy IV – Final Fantasy Chronicles (PSOne)
  4. Final Fantasy V & VI – Final Fantasy Anthology (PSOne)
  5. Final Fantasy VII – IX – Original (PSOne)
  6. Final Fantasy X – XII – Original (PS2)/HD Remake PS3
  7. Final Fantasy XIII – XIII-2 – Original (360)

iPad versions are now available for IV, V & VI…..the downside to going that route is playing on the small screen with touch controls and the 15.99 each price tag.  I have considered picking up the Steam versions, but not sure I want to spend more money on these titles, considering I already own other versions of them. I will most likely get the remake of FF VII when it finally releases.

I will update the blog when I am ready to begin my Final Fantasy Marathon.
