Major Video Game Systems – Own them All

Over the years I have owned a number of video game systems.  My first was the Atari 2600.  Next was the Nintendo (NES) and then the Super Nintendo (SNES).

I left the Nintendo fold when I purchased the Sony Playstation (PSOne), but briefly owned a Nintendo 64 (N64) that I never had many games for.

I stuck with Sony for the next generation and purchased a PS2, but also picked up a used Xbox, which I only had a handful of games for.  I also acquired a Gamecube used, which I mostly used to play GBA games on.

My first system of the next generation was a Nintendo Wii, but I only purchased a few games for it.  The Xbox 360 became my primary system for the last generation and is my current system today.  Eventually, I will move on to the Xbox One or the PS4, but not until I work through the backlog of games I haven’t played for the 360.

In addition to the 360, I still have my PS2.  The rest of the systems have been sold or traded over the years.  I also owned several different Gameboys, but I’ve never been a huge fan of handheld systems.

For this bucket list item I want to own all of the major systems from the time I first started playing games on the Atari 2600 to the present day.

I also would like to own the “top 10” games for each system.

The Systems are:

  1. Atari 2600 – 1977 – $70 Ebay
  2. Magnavox Odyssey2 – 1978 – $50 Ebay
  3. Intellivision – 1980 – $70 Ebay
  4. Atari 5200 – 1982 – $70 Ebay
  5. ColecoVision – 1982 – $70 Ebay
  6. Nintendo Entertainment System – 1983 – $70 Gamestop
  7. Atari 7800 – 1984 – $100 Ebay
  8. Sega Master System – 1985 – $85 Ebay
  9. TurboGrafx 16 – 1987 – $160 Ebay
  10. Sega Genesis – 1988 – $35 Gamestop
  11. Neo-Geo – 1990 – $1500 Ebay
  12. Super Nintendo – 1990 – $70 Gamestop
  13. 3DO – 1993 – $90 Ebay
  14. Sega Saturn – 1994 – $75 Ebay
  15. Sony Playstation – 1994 (acquired 2016)
  16. Nintendo 64 – 1996 – $80 Gamestop
  17. Sega Dreamcast – 1999 – $55 Gamestop
  18. Playstation 2 – 2000 (owned)
  19. Nintendo Gamecube – 2001 – $55 Gamestop
  20. Xbox – 2001 – $50 Gamestop
  21. Xbox 360 – 2005 (owned)
  22. Nintendo Wii – 2006 (owned)
  23. Playstation 3 – 2006 (acquired 2016)
  24. Wii U – 2012 – $230 Gamestop
  25. Playstation 4 – 2013 – $300 Gamestop
  26. Xbox One – 2013 – $300 Gamestop

There are other consoles that were released during this time frame, but these are the consoles I remember as being the major players of their respective generations.

I will update the blog as I acquire systems and as I acquire systems I will research the games I want to own for each system.
