I would like to record a CD as a for fun project. I have made a few living room recordings with various bands and jam groups, but I would like to record a solo effort.
In order to do this, I will need to purchase some basic recording equipment.
There are a number of options. One, would be a stand alone recorder like the Zoom – H4n Handy Recorder.
Another would be to get a mixing board like the Behringer – XENYX Analog Mixer.
A third option is an external sound card with microphone and instrument inputs like the M-audio – Fast Track Recording Interface that I could use with the microphones I already have.
A fourth option is to get a USB microphone like the Blue Microphones – Yeti Pro USB Microphone – YETIPRO.
Whichever option I go with, I’ll probably need to get some decent headphones or studio monitors for my laptop. One option is M-audio – Studiophile 3″ 2-way Compact Studio Monitors (pair).
Depending on the setup, I will likely need to invest $300 – $800 in equipment.
I will update the blog when I am ready to start assembling my home studio.
